Welcome to the Supported Business website |
The Supported Business Directory is designed as an aid to Procurement Officers looking to source products under the Article 19 European regulations. We hope that you will find the Directory an invaluable tool in helping your organisation source products from quality suppliers whose purpose is to provide sustainable employment to people with a disabilty.
The Directory contains searchable listings of businesses and their products and services. All the businesses listed here are supported businesses as defined within Regulation 7 of the Public Contracts Regulations 2006 (SI 2006/5). This means that the company is a service where more than 50% of the workers are disabled persons who by reason of the nature or severity of their disability are unable to take up work in the open labour market. Each company has signed a declaration to confirm this to us and their company details are held by the Department for Work and Pensions.
The site is managed by BASE, the British Association for Supported Employment, working in partnership with OGC and Remploy. |

The Scottish Government see supported businesses and factories as having a valuable role in assisting people with disabilities to integrate into the labour market and in helping to improve their overall independence and wellbeing. Since September 2009 BASE Scotland has engaged with senior members of the Scottish Government and the Public Sector Procurement Centres of Expertise.
One of the outcomes of this process was the creation of the Supported Business Scotland brochure in July 2010. Over 2000 copies of this brochure have now been issued and an electronic copy of the brochure can be located here.

Contracts Finder will become the main source of government opportunities worth more than £10,000. Live opportunities have started to be published, and the number will increase as more parts of government start using Contracts Finder over the next few months.
Until 31 March 2011 you can find low-value contract opportunities with government - typically worth £100,000 or less - on the Supply2Gov website.
